Batu Caves is a standout spot in Malaysia, mixing culture, nature, and adventure. Just outside Kuala Lumpur, it’s a must-see for anyone visiting the area.
Batu Caves has a history stretching back 400 million years, but it became a key Hindu site in the early 1900s. The complex includes several temples and shrines, with the Temple Cave dedicated to Lord Murugan being the most significant. It became a major religious site after a huge golden statue of Lord Murugan was erected in 2006.
Visitors can reach Batu Caves by taking the KTM Komuter train from KL Sentral, which takes about 30 minutes and costs less than USD 1. Alternatively, Grab or taxis offer more convenience, especially during peak times when trains might be less frequent. Driving or taking a bus are also good options, with plenty of parking nearby.
While the Temple Cave is free, smaller caves like the Art Gallery and Ramayana Cave may have a small entrance fee, usually between RM 5-15.
