The Basilica Santa Capilla is a revered architectural relic, located in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. Bearing signs of Neogothic architecture, the church is a prominent place of worship and is known for its sheer beauty and historical value.
The Basilica was constructed in the late 19th century, consecrated in 1881, on the site of an older chapel where the Liberator Simón Bolívar once prayed. It was one of the first structures to be built of iron combined with brick veneer, a unique feature that sets it apart architecturally.
The Santa Capilla Basilica is located in the heart of Caracas and is easily accessible by public transport. The nearest metro station is “Capitolio.” Walk a few blocks west of the station, and you stand at the foot of this historic structure.
Entrance to the Basilica Santa Capilla is free, and there’s no need for a ticket. Donations are appreciated, and these help in the maintenance and conservation of the Basilica.
