History

The Borobudur Temple is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple in Central Java, Indonesia. It is the world’s largest Buddhist temple and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The temple was abandoned in the 14th century and rediscovered in the 19th century, leading to a major restoration project in the 20th century.
