History

Cheekwood Gardens was established in 1929 during the American Country Place Era, designed by the renowned architect Bryant Fleming. The estate boasts a magnificent Georgian-style mansion with 11 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, complete with a hidden staircase and an impressive collection of books. In 1957, Huldah (Cheek) Sharp, the daughter of Leslie and Mabel Cheek, generously offered the estate to be used as a public garden and fine arts center for Nashville. By 1960, Cheekwood Gardens opened its doors to the public, showcasing its beautiful gardens and historic mansion.
