History

Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park was established in 2002 to protect the main water source of the Kathmandu Valley and conserve its rich biodiversity. The park spans parts of Kathmandu, Nuwakot, and Sindhupalchowk districts, covering around 159 square kilometers.

How to Get There

Getting to the park from Kathmandu is pretty straightforward. You can hop on a public bus or hire a private vehicle. Common routes include Sundhara–Jamal–Maharajgunj–Budhanilkantha–Panimuhan, Sundhara–Chabahil–Sundarijal, and Sundhara–Chabahil–Sankhu. The park has several entry points like Chisapani, Jhule, Sundarijal, Mahankal, Panimuhan, Tokha, Jagat, Kakani, and Nagarjun Fulbari gate.
