Nuuk Cathedral, also known as Annaassisitta Oqaluffia, is a prominent wooden Lutheran cathedral situated in the heart of Old Nuuk, Greenland. Constructed between 1848 and 1849, it is renowned for its distinctive brick-red color and holds significant cultural and religious importance in Greenland.
The cathedral was originally built to serve the Nuuk congregation and was fully funded by Karen Oersted’s Fund. In 1993, it was designated as the Cathedral of Greenland. Adjacent to the cathedral is an annex building that serves as the seat of the bishop of Greenland.
To visit Nuuk Cathedral, you can fly into Nuuk Airport, which has connections to major cities in Europe and North America. From the airport, taxis and buses are available to take you to the city center. The cathedral is conveniently accessible on foot from most areas in Old Nuuk.
Nuuk Cathedral does not typically require tickets as it is a place of worship open to visitors. However, donations are appreciated.
