Located on Heart Island in the Thousand Islands of the Saint Lawrence River, Boldt Castle in New York is a monument of grandeur, love, and a bygone era. From its meticulous landscaped gardens to its stunning architectural design, Boldt Castle offers mesmerizing insights into early 20th-century opulence.

History

Boldt Castle was commissioned by the wealthy hotel magnate George C. Boldt as a testament of love for his wife, Louise. Unfortunately, the work was halted before completion due to Louise’s sudden death in 1904. The unfinished castle remained abandoned until 1977 when the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority acquired the property and began restoration.

How to Get There

Boldt Castle is located in Alexandria Bay, New York. Accessible only by boat, a variety of tour operators offer ferry services from both the USA and Canada. Most tours start from Alexandria Bay, Clayton, NY, Gananoque, and Rockport, ON.

Ticket Information

Admission rates for Boldt Castle are $13 for adults, $9 for children age 5-12, while children under 5 years go free. You can get the combo tickets that include the yacht house for $16 for adults and still $9 for children. Boat tour prices vary by operator and can include the shuttle to Heart Island.
