Bosque Los Colomos is a lively urban park situated in the northwest part of Guadalajara, right on the edge of Zapopan. It’s a vital green space for the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. The park has an interesting past, having evolved from its original forest state. In the past, the forest’s wood was used for building in the city, and by the late 1800s, it became a key spot for water projects, capturing springs to provide drinking water to Guadalajara until the mid-1960s.
Visitors can reach Bosque Los Colomos using local transport like buses or taxis from Guadalajara. It’s also accessible by car, with plenty of parking for those who choose to drive.
The park offers a variety of attractions, including duck lakes, a Japanese garden, hiking paths, jogging tracks, a picnic area, and a cultural center. There’s also a beautiful rose garden and a scenic lake, making it a peaceful spot for nature enthusiasts.
Entry to Bosque Los Colomos is free, and it’s open every day from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, though some say it might close later at 7:30 pm.
