A sanctuary of verdant landscapes, Cerro Corá National Park captivates with its lush forests, picturesque waterfalls, and rugged mountains. As home to awe-inspiring flora and fauna, it is a beacon for nature admirers and a treasure trove of Paraguay’s rich history.
Infused with historical relevance, Cerro Corá National Park was witness to a pivotal moment in Paraguay’s history – The Battle of Cerro Corá – that marked the end of the magnanimously devastating War of the Triple Alliance in 1870. Today, it stands as a memorial celebrating brave soldiers and a visual narrative of the events that once unfolded.
Cerro Corá National Park is located in the Amambay Department, around 400 kilometers northeast of Paraguay’s capital, Asuncion. The easiest route is usually to fly into Silvio Pettirossi International Airport in Asuncion, followed by a domestic flight or renting a car.
Information on tickets for entry into the park can be found on the park’s official website or other reliable local tourism sites. Generally, tickets are required to access the park and any additional tour services if opted for.
