Puno City is found in the immediate vicinity of Lake Titicaca, and is an ideal stop for a tour around the province (also called Puno), especially for visitors who are looking to marvel the architecture of centuries-old churches and buildings. Puno is well known for its festivities, especially the Virgen de la Candelaria parades which occur from late January to early February. Aside from the many dining options that await visitors, Puno is also home to many museums and historic sites such as the Coca Museum — a museum dedicated to the coca plant.
