Eltz Castle, one of the few castles in Europe that remained undestroyed by wars, dates back to the 12th century. For over 33 generations, the castle has been owned and maintained by the same family, the Eltz family. How to Get There

Eltz Castle is located in Wierschem, Germany. The nearest town is Mayen. Direct trains from major German cities connect to Mayen. From Mayen, local buses or taxis can take you to the castle. Alternatively, trekkers can take a picturesque walking trail from Moselkern, a nearby village, right up to the castle.
