La Santísima Trinidad de Paraná, or simply, the Jesuit Mission of the Holy Trinity, in Trinidad, Paraguay, offers an intimate peek into the country’s rich and diverse history, inspired by religion, culture, and architectural brilliance.
Founded by the Jesuits in the late 17th century, the Holy Trinity was once a flourishing center for religious and social activity, housing around 3000 indigenous Guaraní people at its peak. Today, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it stands as a testimony to the Jesuit-Guaraní collaboration and the cultural dialogue of that period.
The mission is located in the town of Trinidad, Itapúa Department, roughly 365 km southeast of Asunción. Buses travel routinely between Asunción and Encarnación, where you can find local transportation to Trinidad. Alternatively, you may rent a car.
