Landwasser Viaduct
The Landwasser Viaduct, an architectural marvel, was completed in 1902. It is a stunning example of early 20th-century engineering and is part of the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula/Bernina Landscapes, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The viaduct spans the Landwasser River and is renowned for its dramatic curve and towering stone pillars, which rise 65 meters above the valley floor.
The Landwasser Viaduct is located near the town of Filisur in the Graubünden region of Switzerland. Travelers can reach Filisur by taking a train from major Swiss cities such as Zurich or Chur. From Filisur, the viaduct is accessible by a short hike or a scenic train ride on the Rhaetian Railway, which offers breathtaking views of the viaduct as the train crosses it.
Tickets for the Rhaetian Railway can be purchased online or at the train station. Prices vary depending on the route and class of service. It is recommended to book tickets in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons. Entry to the Landwasser Viaduct viewpoint is free, but some hiking trails may require a small fee or a regional pass.
