Incredible hike! Weather was pretty perfect with a high of 80. A month and half before doing this hike I would get on the stairclimber for at least 20 minutes once a week. I am also an avid runner and would incorporate hills into my runs. This helped me immensely conquer this hike! I was armed with 2 liters of water, energy snacks, an electrolyte drink mix, and lastly canned oxygen. I came from sea level and had 5 days to acclimate. Still ended up needing the oxygen as you’re climbing 2k feet of elevation. There are a lot of break off points along the trail in the shade where you can stop and catch your breath. It took us a little under 2 hours to get to the top and maybe another hour or so down the Barr trail. There is water and a nice toilet at the base of the Barr trail. No facilities or water at the top.
We reserved a time slot but when we got there no one checked or confirmed our reservation.
