The Mevlana Museum in Konya, Turkey, is an essential destination for those interested in history, culture, and spirituality. Situated in the heart of Konya, this museum serves as the final resting place of the famous Sufi poet and mystic, Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, also known as Mevlana.
The origins of the Mevlana Museum trace back to the 13th century when it functioned as a dervish lodge for the Mevlevi order, established by Mevlana Rumi. The mausoleum was constructed over Mevlana’s grave in 1274 by his successor, Hüsamettin Çelebi. Over the years, the complex expanded with additional sections until it was transformed into a museum in 1927.
To visit the Mevlana Museum, you can fly into Konya Airport and then take a taxi or bus to the city center. The museum is conveniently accessible on foot from most areas within the city.
Admission to the Mevlana Museum is free, and it is open daily from 09:00 am to 17:30 pm.
