A seasoned traveler has navigated the vast expanses of West Texas and has come across the fascinating sight of the Odessa Meteor Crater Museum, an attraction worth a stop on everyone’s journey.
The Odessa Meteor Crater is the result of a meteor strike that hit Earth approximately 63,500 years ago. This noteworthy event resulted in one large and several smaller craters, the largest being almost 100 meters in diameter. The Odessa Meteor Crater and museum can be found just Southwest of Odessa, Texas. An easy drive from the city center, follow Interstate 20 to Meteor Crater Rd and follow the signs to the location. There should be ample parking available on site.
The Odessa Meteor Crater Museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday and admission is free of charge. Donations, however, are appreciated to support the maintenance of the museum and the site.
