Parke’s Castle was originally built in the early 17th century by Robert Parke, an English planter. The castle was constructed on the site of an earlier O’Rourke tower house, which dates back to the 15th century. Over the years, the castle has undergone significant restoration to preserve its historical integrity, including the reconstruction of its stone walls and the addition of a traditional Irish roof.
Parke’s Castle is located approximately 7 kilometers from Sligo town. Visitors can reach the castle by car, taking the N16 road towards Manorhamilton and then following the signs for Parke’s Castle. There is ample parking available on-site. Alternatively, visitors can take a bus from Sligo to Dromahair and then a taxi to the castle.
