History

The pletna boats have a rich history dating back over 400 years. These traditional, wooden, gondola-like boats were introduced by the Bled Lord of the time, who granted 22 local families exclusive rights to ferry pilgrims to Bled Island, a tradition that continues to this day, passed down through generations.

How to Get There

Pletna boats depart from several locations around Lake Bled, including the Bled Promenade, Mlino, and Velika Zaka. These areas are easily accessible by foot, car, or local bus from anywhere in Bled.
