History

Retezat National Park, located in the heart of the Southern Carpathians in Romania, was established in 1935 and stands as the country’s first national park. It’s an area of natural beauty, home to a wide range of wildlife and extraordinary biodiversity, attesting to the park’s age-old preservation of nature.

How to Get There

The closest city to Retezat National Park is Hunedoara, which is accessible by car, bus, or train from other major Romanian cities. From Hunedoara, the park can be reached either by car or by local bus services. There’s also the possibility of arranging for a taxi or a transfer from Hunedoara or other larger cities nearby.
