Saklikent Gorge is a stunning natural attraction located in the Mugla Province of southwestern Turkey, positioned between the towns of Fethiye and Kas. It holds the title of the longest and deepest canyon in Turkey, extending 18 kilometers and reaching heights of up to 200 meters. The gorge is part of Saklikent National Park, established in 1996 to protect its unique natural beauty and ancient ruins.
The formation of Saklikent Gorge dates back millions of years, shaped by the forces of water erosion. Local folklore tells of its discovery by a shepherd searching for his lost goat. The area has been inhabited since ancient times, with evidence of the Lycian civilization and later use by the Ottoman Empire for agriculture and grazing.
Visitors can reach Saklikent Gorge by joining an organized day trip from Fethiye or Ölüdeniz, which often includes stops at Tlos Ruins and YakaPark. Alternatively, you can rent a car or take a local bus (dolmus) from Fethiye, which takes about an hour. Taxis are also available but tend to be more expensive.
The entry fee for Saklikent Gorge is approximately 23 TL (around 1 EUR). Please note that the Museum Pass is not valid here.
