Reaching Seealpsee is an adventure in itself. The nearest major city is Zurich, from where you can take a train to Appenzell. From Appenzell, you can catch a local train to Wasserauen. Once in Wasserauen, the lake is accessible via a scenic hike that takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. The trail is well-marked and offers stunning views along the way.
There is no entrance fee to visit Seealpsee. However, if you plan to use the local trains or rent a rowboat, there will be associated costs. Train tickets can be purchased at the stations, and boat rentals are available on-site at the lake.
