Perched on a 262-meter ridge above the town, this 15th-century fortress offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and a glimpse into Croatia’s rich history.

History

The Starigrad Fortress was built during the Croatian-Ottoman wars as a primary defense against the Ottoman Empire. How to Get There

To reach the Starigrad Fortress, you can follow these steps:

– Option 2: Parking after crossing the bridge (coming from Split) and turning right. You will have to pay at the machine with coins, deciding in advance how many hours you want to stay.
– Option 3: Parking after the bridge (coming from Split) turning left. This parking area is free of charge and is ideal as it is one of the starting points of the hike.
– Option 4: On-street parking behind the Omis fire station. However, this option is not recommended as it is in a residential area and parking places are very limited.
