Perched atop the basalt island of Súgandisey, the Súgandisey Island Lighthouse stands like a guardian between the Skógarströnd and Breiðafjörður fjord in Stykkishólmur, Iceland. Offering panoramic views of the town and landscape, it’s a beacon of tranquility and mesmerizing beauty.
First built in 1948, the Súgandisey Island Lighthouse is not only a vital guide for ships in the Breiðafjörður fjord but has quickly become a must-visit spot for tourists due to its panoramic views and serene surroundings that encapsulate Iceland’s natural allure.
Stykkishólmur is about a two-hour drive northeast of Reykjavík. Once in Stykkishólmur, get to the harbor and find the footpath leading up to the lighthouse on Súgandisey Island.
