Located in the heart of the Old Town, Ljubljana Town Hall, also known as Mestna Hiša or Rotovž, is a key centerpiece of the city’s rich cultural tapestry. With its elegant Venetian architectural style and storied history, Ljubljana Town Hall stands as a testament to the city’s past while functioning as the city’s administrative center.
History
The original Ljubljana Town Hall building dates back to the late 15th century but has undergone multiple transformations. The most significant renovation took place in the late 17th and early 18th century, led by the master builder Gregor Maček, who moulded it into the charming Baroque appearance it showcases today. Over the centuries, this building has served as a place of municipal administration and continues to hold the office of the Mayor of Ljubljana.
