The Churchill Arms – A Blooming Icon in Kensington

Nestled in the heart of Kensington, The Churchill Arms stands as one of London’s most distinctive and historic pubs. Established in 1750, this Fuller’s-managed establishment boasts a rich heritage, having been frequented by Winston Churchill’s grandparents in the 19th century.

Floral Facade and Festive Flair

Renowned for its extravagant floral displays, The Churchill Arms invests approximately £25,000 annually to adorn its exterior with over 100 flower pots, 48 window boxes, and 42 hanging baskets during the spring and summer months. Come winter, the pub transforms into a festive wonderland, featuring up to 100 Christmas trees and thousands of twinkling lights, solidifying its reputation as Britain’s most festive pub.

Interior Ambiance

Inside, patrons are greeted with a warm, cozy atmosphere characterized by dark wood paneling, vintage memorabilia, and an eclectic collection of chamber pots suspended from the ceiling. The decor pays homage to its namesake, with numerous Churchill portraits and World War II artifacts adorning the walls.

Culinary Delights: A Thai Twist

Breaking the mold of traditional British pub fare, The Churchill Arms introduced Thai cuisine in 1988, becoming one of the first pubs in London to do so. The Thai Kitchen offers an array of authentic dishes, including:

  • Pad Thai: Stir-fried rice noodles with egg, tofu, bean sprouts, and peanuts.
  • Green Curry: A spicy coconut milk-based curry with bamboo shoots and basil.
  • Spring Rolls: Crispy rolls filled with vegetables and served with sweet chili sauce.

The Thai menu is served in a greenhouse-style conservatory at the back of the pub, providing a unique dining experience amidst lush greenery.
