The Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg City started as the city’s first town hall back in the 16th century. Over time, it transformed into the Grand Ducal Palace in 1890. The palace has undergone several renovations, with major restorations between 1991 and 1996. During World War II, the Nazis occupied it, but it was returned to the royal family after the war.
Situated right in the center of Luxembourg City at 17 Rue du Marché-aux-Herbes, the palace is easy to reach on foot from most places in the Old Town. Public transport and taxis are also convenient options to get there.
During the summer, guided tours are available. Tickets cost about €9 for kids aged 4 to 12, €18 for adults, and are free for children under 4. Tours are conducted in several languages, including Luxembourgish, French, English, and German.
