The Museo Nacional de Historia Natural del Paraguay (National Museum of Natural History of Paraguay) is one of the finest preservers of the natural heritage of Paraguay. Located in San Lorenzo, the museum encompasses a wide spectrum of disciplines such as Zoology, Botany, Archaeology, Ethnography, Paleontology, and Geology.
Founded in 1990, the museum came into existence with the goal of promoting knowledge and appreciation of Paraguayan biodiversity, culture, and history amongst Paraguayans and foreign visitors. Over the years, the museum has evolved to become a crucial research center.
The museum is located in San Lorenzo, just about 10 kilometers from the center of Asunción. Buses from Asunción to San Lorenzo are frequent and the journey takes around 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can get there by taxi. The exact address is Instituto de Investigación Biológica del Paraguay, Prof. Clementino Ocampos 1303, San Lorenzo, Paraguay.
Opening hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The admission fee is 10,000 Guaraníes (around 2 USD) for adults and 5,000 Guaraníes for students with ID. Children under 6 and seniors enter for free.
