Marfa Mystery Lights

The Marfa Mystery Lights have intrigued people for years. Found in the desert near Marfa, Texas, these mysterious lights show up as glowing orbs in different colors and movements, often hovering or darting around the sky.

History

The Marfa Lights were first noted in 1883 by a cowboy named Robert Reed Ellison, who saw flickering lights while herding cattle near Mitchell Flat. Over time, many theories have been suggested, from natural gases to mirages and even paranormal activity, but none have been proven.

How to Get There

To see the Marfa Mystery Lights, drive nine miles east of Marfa to the Marfa Lights Viewing Area. It’s easy to reach by car, but there’s no public transport, so you’ll need your own vehicle.
