Introduction

The Remarkables, a prominent ski area in Otago, New Zealand, is celebrated for its varied terrain and stunning alpine vistas. History

Originally called Kawarau by the Ngāi Tahu people, the range was renamed The Remarkables by Alexander Garvie in 1857-58 due to its distinctive jagged peaks. Since the 1980s, it has been a favored ski destination, with the first commercial ski resort opening in 1985.

How to Get There

Located just 24 kilometers east of Queenstown, The Remarkables is easily reachable by car, with a drive time of about 45 minutes. Shuttle services are also available from Queenstown to the ski area.
