History The Garden of Dreams was built in the 1920s by Field Marshal Kaiser Shumsher Rana, who was inspired by English gardens from the Edwardian era. Originally called the Garden of Six Seasons, it featured ponds, fountains, pergolas, and verandas, with each pavilion named after one of Nepal’s six traditional seasons. After Kaiser Shumsher passed away in 1964, the garden fell into neglect until it was restored between 2000 and 2007 with help from the Austrian government. How to Get There Located at the eastern end of Thamel, the Garden of Dreams is just a short walk from popular spots like the Fire and Ice restaurant and Himalayan Java cafe.
