Ledenika Cave is located in the northwestern part of Bulgaria, near the town of Vratsa. The cave was formed over thousands of years by the underground river that flows through it. It has been open to the public since 1961 and is a popular tourist attraction in the region.

How to Get There

The easiest way to reach Ledenika Cave is by car. It is about a two-hour drive from the capital city of Sofia. There are also buses that run from Vratsa to the cave, but they are less frequent.

  • The Icefall – a frozen waterfall inside the cave
  • The Concert Hall – a large chamber where concerts are sometimes held

    • Entrance to Ledenika Cave is 5 euros for adults and 2 euros for children. Guided tours are available for an additional fee.

  • Wear comfortable shoes, as the cave can be slippery
  • Bring a jacket, as the temperature inside the cave is quite cool
  • Be prepared for some steep stairs and narrow passageways
