The Rembrandt House Museum, situated in the enchanting city of Amsterdam, beautifully preserves the history and the artistry of one of the world’s greatest painters. This authentic, 17th-century abode where Rembrandt lived and worked for nearly two decades now displays an extensive collection of his etchings alongside rotating exhibitions. A tour through this museum transports you back to the Golden Age, providing an intimate glimpse into the genius artist’s life and creativity.
Rembrandt called the house on Jodenbreestraat 4 his home and workplace from 1639 to 1658. Since 1911, the museum has maintained the original atmosphere with genuine 17th-century furnishings and art, including nearly all of Rembrandt’s etchings. It also hosts exhibitions about Rembrandt, his peers, and artists he inspired.
Situated at Jodenbreestraat 4 in Amsterdam, the museum is easy to reach by public transport. Tram lines 9 and 14 stop close by at Waterlooplein or Nieuwmarkt, and metro lines 51, 53, and 54 also serve the area.
The Rembrandt House Museum welcomes visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm, and is closed on Mondays and some holidays. Tickets are available on-site or online through the museum’s website. Check the official site for the latest prices and any special exhibition fees.
