Back in 1824, Sultan Hussein Shah, Singapore’s first sultan, built the original Sultan Mosque, which was a simple wooden structure. Later, in 1928, it was redesigned with more intricate features, and the current building was finished in 1932 by the architectural firm Swan and Maclaren. It became a national monument in 1975, highlighting its historical importance.
