The establishment was originally conceptualized by a group of architects from Edinburgh for the Beamish and Crawford brewery, formerly located opposite the current site, and carries a distinct Sino-Celtic aesthetic that echoes the work of Mackintosh. The Oval boasts a varied mix of patrons and carries whispers of a spectral presence, told through tales of countless encounters with a disheveled soldier apparition over the decades. Much like this lingering spirit, once you’ve tasted the vibrant nightlife at this acclaimed Indie pub, The Oval, you too might find it difficult to say goodbye.
