The establishment was originally conceptualized by a group of architects from Edinburgh for the Beamish and Crawford brewery, formerly located opposite the current site, and carries a distinct Sino-Celtic aesthetic that echoes the work of Mackintosh. The Oval boasts a varied mix of patrons and carries whispers of a spectral presence, told through tales of countless encounters with a disheveled soldier apparition over the decades.
