Apparition Hill, also known as Podbrdo or Crnica, is a renowned pilgrimage site in Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The story of Apparition Hill began in June 1981 when six children claimed to have seen the Virgin Mary. Since then, this site has become a magnet for Catholic pilgrims. The hill is now adorned with religious installations, including bronze reliefs depicting the Joyful and Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary, and a marble statue of Our Lady commemorating the apparitions.
Apparition Hill is situated near the village of Bijakovići, within the town of Medjugorje. It’s about a mile from the main church and town center. Visitors can hike up the hill via a well-trodden path that meanders through rocky terrain. The hike can be challenging, but the views of the surrounding landscape are absolutely stunning.
Visiting Apparition Hill is free of charge. However, many pilgrims choose to join guided tours or prayer groups, which might require registration or a donation.
