Grand Prix Plaza: Formula 1's Year-Round Home in Las Vegas

Grand Prix Plaza is a permanent Formula 1 attraction built into the Las Vegas Grand Prix Pit Building at 4400 Koval Lane, on the corner of Koval and Harmon a few minutes east of the Strip. This is worth stating plainly, because it is the most common misunderstanding about the place: it is not a race-week fan zone that appears each November and disappears again. It is open through the year, and the headline attraction lets you drive a kart on a section of the same circuit the Formula 1 cars race on.

It opened on 2 May 2025 and reopened for its second season on 30 January 2026 with a redesigned karting track. The campus around it runs to roughly 39 acres.

What There Is to Do

F1 Drive — karting on the Strip Circuit

The reason most people come. Karts run on a purpose-built layout that incorporates part of the Las Vegas Strip Circuit, so a portion of what you drive is genuinely the Grand Prix track rather than a facsimile of it. The 2026 layout runs about 1,470 feet with 22 turns, a tighter and more technical course than the original 1,696-foot, 31-turn version it replaced. Karts reach roughly 30 mph, which is quicker than it sounds at that scale.

Sessions are sold either as timed trials or as a Grand Prix-style format with practice, qualifying and a race — the latter being the one worth booking if you want the full sequence rather than a few laps. Closed-toe shoes are required.

F1 X — the exhibition

A 20,000-square-foot exhibition combining historic Formula 1 artefacts with interactive stations. You can design a virtual livery for your own car and drive the Las Vegas Strip Circuit from a driver's-seat perspective in a 4D theatre that was upgraded for the second season. Most visitors spend somewhere between an hour and ninety minutes here, because the interactive sections reward time rather than a walk-through.

F1 Hub

The free-to-enter central area, with Formula 1 simulators, the official Formula 1 retail store and the F1 Hub Lounge restaurant. You can come here, eat, shop and try a simulator without buying an attraction ticket.

Tickets and Pricing

• F1 Drive karting — from around $37 per driver for a timed trial, rising to about $99 for a full Grand Prix-format session. Third-party sellers list packages between roughly $37 and $69 for one or two races.
• F1 X — around $59 for adult admission.

Karting runs in timed slots and weekend slots sell out, so book ahead rather than turning up on a Saturday afternoon and hoping. Prices and packages change between seasons; check the official site before budgeting a visit.

Opening Hours

Reported hours are 10am to 10pm Sunday through Thursday and 10am to midnight on Friday and Saturday, with F1 Drive karting and the F1 Hub operating daily. F1 X closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, which is the single most useful thing to know when planning — if the exhibition is your main reason for going, do not come midweek. Hours shift around events and seasons, so confirm before travelling.

Getting There

Grand Prix Plaza sits at 4400 Koval Lane, one block east of the Strip behind the Horseshoe and Paris hotels, and close to Harry Reid International Airport. It is a walkable distance from the middle of the Strip for anyone who does not mind a ten-to-fifteen-minute walk in the heat, and a short rideshare otherwise. There is parking on site.

Because it is so close to the airport, it works unusually well as a first or last stop on a Las Vegas trip, when you have hours to fill but not enough for a show.

When to Go

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quietest. Weekends and the run-up to the Las Vegas Grand Prix in November are the busiest, and during race week itself access and pricing change substantially — the Pit Building returns to its working purpose. Avoid Tuesdays and Wednesdays if you want F1 X.

Is It Worth It?

For anyone with a real interest in Formula 1, the karting is the draw and it justifies the trip on its own: there are not many places where a member of the public can drive any part of a current Grand Prix circuit. F1 X is a good exhibition rather than an essential one, and it is priced as an add-on. The Hub being free means a casual visitor can get a look at the place, eat, and leave without committing to a ticket.

Where it falls down slightly is if you arrive expecting the atmosphere of a race. Outside of November this is a well-made attraction in a large building, not a sporting event, and it is better to come for the karting with that clear.

The plaza is within easy reach of the Strip's eastern side, the MSG Sphere, and the resort corridor around Harmon Avenue. It pairs naturally with an evening on the Strip, since a karting session takes well under half a day.
