Established in 1878 by Henry (Heinrich) D. Gruene, the son of German immigrants, Gruene Hall was built to serve as a social hub for cotton farmers. The 6,000 square-foot dance hall, with its high pitched tin roof and quintessential wooden floor, remains virtually unaltered, maintaining a historic charm and authenticity.

How to get there

One can reach Gruene by air via San Antonio International Airport, which is about 35 miles away. From there, car rentals or taxis are the most convenient options to reach Gruene Hall. It can also be reached by road using U.S Route 87 if you’re coming from San Antonio, or Interstate 35 if you’re coming from Austin.
