Kilchurn Castle is a historic castle located in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Built in the mid-15th century by the Clan Campbell, it served as their ancestral seat for over 150 years. The castle played a strategic role in the conflicts between the Campbells and the rival Clan MacGregor. However, by the early 18th century, Kilchurn Castle was abandoned and left in ruins.
Kilchurn Castle is located near the village of Dalmally in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The easiest way to reach the castle is by car. From Glasgow, take the A82 towards Crianlarich, then follow the A85 towards Dalmally. The castle is located on the shores of Loch Awe, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
There is no entrance fee to visit Kilchurn Castle, as it is owned by Historic Environment Scotland and is open to the public year-round. However, donations are welcome to help with the preservation and maintenance of the site.
