National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame

The only museum in the world dedicated to the women who shaped the American West — ranchers, rodeo riders, writers, artists and performers — in a purpose-built rotunda in the Cultural District, a short walk from the Kimbell and the Amon Carter. The Hall of Fame itself honours more than two hundred inductees, from Sacagawea to Sandra Day O'Connor, and the galleries lean heavily on objects and film rather than text panels. A bucking-bronco simulator carries most of the children in the building. It is consistently the quietest of the four Cultural District museums, which is a reason to go rather than a reason to skip it.
