San Telmo Market, or Mercado de San Telmo, is a historic indoor market in Buenos Aires. It combines antique charm with modern food stalls and fresh produce, offering a vibrant mix of culture, local flavors, and an authentic Porteño vibe.
The market opened in 1897 to cater to European immigrants, featuring a unique Italian facade. It was initially designed to centralize fruit, vegetable, and meat vendors. Recent renovations have introduced trendy food bars while maintaining its antique character.
Situated at Bolívar 970, San Telmo Market is just a 2-minute walk from Plaza Dorrego and about 15 minutes from Plaza de Mayo. You can access it via Defensa or Bolívar streets, with the most prominent entrance on Bolívar.
Entry to the market is free. No tickets are needed for the indoor market, and the outdoor Feria de San Telmo on Sundays is also free.
