Historical Background

Established in 1909 by Professor Axel Olai Heikel, Seurasaari Open-Air Museum was inspired by the Skansen Open-Air Museum in Stockholm, Sweden. Over the years, the museum has expanded to include 87 structures, each offering a glimpse into Finland’s historical narrative.

Getting to Seurasaari Island

Visitors can reach Seurasaari Island conveniently by taking Bus 24 from Kamppi bus station in Helsinki, with a travel time of approximately 17-18 minutes. Alternatively, Tram number 4 stops at Paciuksenkaari, from which it is just a short 10-minute walk to the island. For those who enjoy cycling, city bikes are available for rent.
