Located in the quiet solitude of Nevada’s Big Smoky Valley, Spencer Hot Springs offers a unique combination of natural beauty and geothermal relaxation. These hot springs, isolated amidst stunning wilderness, provide an unparalleled opportunity for tranquility and star-gazing.

History The springs are named after a local resident, Spencer Penrose, who was known for his association with various projects aimed at preserving Nevada’s natural heritage. While their use predates written history, it’s believed that Native American tribes initially utilized the area. Today, the springs have been adapted with metal tubs and well-maintained access roads, making them an inviting destination for travelers.

How to Get There Reaching the springs involves a bit of an adventure. Located roughly 20 miles east of Austin, Nevada, the springs are most directly accessed via U.S. Route 50. A turn onto State Route 376, followed by an unmarked gravel road (known informally as Spencer Hot Springs Road), brings visitors to the site. It’s recommended to have a reliable map or GPS.
