Tower Fall is one of the most stunning attractions in Yellowstone National Park, known for its dramatic plunge of water from a towering height of 132 feet. Nestled in a rugged canyon, the waterfall offers breathtaking views, especially after a heavy rain when the fall roars with utmost intensity.
Named after the towering rock pinnacles at the top of the fall, Tower Fall has been a major attraction since the 1800s when European explorers first discovered it. It was initially named “”Minaret Creek”” by Captain W.F Raynolds. Later, during the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition in 1870, it was renamed “”Tower Fall”” which continues to this day.
To reach Tower Fall from Yellowstone’s North entrance, drive south past Mammoth Hot Springs, through Dunraven Pass, and Tower Fall will be shortly after. From the South entrance, drive north past West Thumb and Lake Village, then east at Canyon Village, and Tower Fall will be on your left.
Entry to Tower Fall is included in the general admission to Yellowstone National Park. As of 2021, a 7-day pass for a private, non-commercial vehicle costs $35, while a motorcycle or snowmobile costs $30. Individuals entering by foot, bicycle, or ski are charged $20.
