The Waitomo glow worm caves are a major tourist attraction and when else would you get the chance to take a boat ride through a cave system and emerge in a serene grotto, glow-worms twinkling like stars all around. If you need a faster pace, you can also raft through and visit some of the lesser-seen corners of the caves. It’s best to pre-book as this attraction will sell out.
