A working Ardennes village of a few hundred people, and the objective in one of the most-watched episodes of Band of Brothers. The assault came across the open fields south of the village on 13 January 1945, from the treeline of the Bois Jacques — ground you can stand on and read in a single glance, which is what makes Foy worth the two-kilometre detour north of Bastogne.
