Mirante Dona Marta
Estr. Mirante Dona Marta, S/N - Cosme Velho, Rio de Janeiro - RJ, BrazilB
Posted by Brandon B.AdminA belvedere on a spur of the Tijuca massif, a few hundred metres below the Christ statue, looking down over Botafogo's curved bay with Sugarloaf standing at the mouth and the centre beyond. It is the shot used in most establishing views of Rio, and unlike Corcovado there is no ticket and usually no crowd. Access is by road, so a taxi or a tour van rather than on foot — the approach runs past a favela and walking up is not advised. Sunset and the blue hour just after are the reason to time it.
