Getting There

You can reach Ryoan-ji by taking a JR bus from Kyoto Station, which takes about 30 minutes and costs 230 yen. Another option is to use the Keifuku Kitano Line and get off at Ryoanji-michi Station, followed by a short walk to the temple.

  2. Hojo: The former head priest’s residence, featuring sliding door paintings and smaller gardens.
  3. Kyoyo-chi Pond: A picturesque pond with a small shrine on one of its islands.
  4. Pilgrim’s Path and Teahouse: Additional scenic spots around the temple grounds.
