Built for HemisFair '68 and still the tallest thing in San Antonio, with an observation deck at around 580 feet and a revolving restaurant above it. On a clear day the view explains the city's geography better than any map: the river threading south through downtown toward the missions, the Hill Country rising to the northwest, and the flat brush country running away to the south. It is a tourist stop and priced like one. Go late enough to catch the lights coming on.
