Welcome to a unique architectural marvel – The Triple Bridge (Tromostovje), a signature landmark of Slovenia’s vibrant capital, Ljubljana. Positioned in the heart of the city, these three bridges, interconnected, offer a visually pleasing perspective of the city’s charismatic old town and its flowing river.

History: The Triple Bridge was originally a single bridge built in 1842. Architect Jože Plečnik added the other two pedestrian bridges to the central one in 1929-1932, creating a fascinating complex to ease traffic congestion and transform it into a significant cultural and architectural monument.

Location: Nestled in the charming city center, the Triple Bridge connects the historical, medieval town on one bank, and the modern city of Ljubljana on the other, opening to Prešeren Square, a prominent social and cultural meeting spot.

Architecture: Consisting of three bridges, the central one is the widest and is meant for vehicular traffic, while the two narrower bridges flanking it are for pedestrians. These bridges adorned with large stone balusters and lamps provide a beautiful, picturesque view, especially during the night.

Things to do:

  1. Take a Stroll: The Triple Bridge is always open for pedestrian visitors. You can take a lovely stroll, especially in the evening, when the bridges come alive with lights.
  2. Photography: Capture stunning shots of the bridge from different angles or the panoramic view of Ljubljana’s old town.
  3. Fine Dining: Visit neighboring restaurants and cafes for some delicious Slovenian cuisine while enjoying the scenic bridge views.
  4. Boat Ride: Take a boat tour along the Ljubljanica River for a unique perspective of the Triple Bridge.
  5. Sightseeing: Visit adjacent landmarks such as the Ljubljana Castle, Prešeren Square, and the lively Central Market.

Tips: The area can be bustling at peak hours. Early morning or late evening visits might mean fewer crowds and better photo opportunities. No entry ticket is needed.
